I like the word “expatriate”. For me it means more than just living abroad. It means living abroad while staying true to you upbringing. I am an Ukrainian expat of sorts for over 4 years now. Before that I was just traveling through Europe, USA and Russia. Then I learned that we are the prisoners of our circumstances. That is why when meeting people abroad, I love meeting American expats most. They seem to be able to create their own circumstances when needed. What I treasure most in people is their ability to stay true to themselves. Hence, my perpetual journey in staying true to myself through different experiences.
